On February 27 and 28, 2003, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences held the second D.I.C.E. Summit. The two-day summit celebrated its second year at the luxurious Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Here, interactive and game industry professionals were treated to stimulating seminars hosted by some of the most revered and creative minds in the game industry and a few surprises from other entertainment fields. Speakers included: Maxis Chief Designer and SimCity creator Will Wright and Nintendo legend and creator of the Donkey Kong and Mario series Shigeru Miyamoto—both returning for their second year at the conference—as well as veteran Sega designer Yu Suzuki and internationally renowned visual designer Syd Mead of Syd Mead Inc.
Celebrating another year of exciting achievements in interactive entertainment, the 2003 D.I.C.E. Summit also celebrated the Academy’s 6th Annual International Achievement Awards, hosted by Actor and comedian Dave Foley, star of the long-running NBC comedy series News Radio, and founding member of the beloved Canadian comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall.
