Author of the critically acclaimed book The Gamer’s Brain, Celia is the founder of the Game UX Summit & Ethical Games, and works today as an independent consultant.
What Could be a Code of Ethics for the Game Industry?
Between moral panics, genuine evidence-based concerns regarding games' ethics, consumer protection fines (such as the unprecedented FTC fine against Epic Games), and new regulations arriving, game developers should be thinking about actively engaging in the conversation and define what a code of ethics could look like in our industry. From protecting players from disruptive behaviors and dark patterns to protecting workers from online harassment, this roundtable, moderated by Celia Hodent, proposes to look at all the topics of the current draft (ethicalgames.org) and discuss what we should do, could do, and likely cannot easily tackle.
