Driving Sustainable Games – Diversifying Revenue While Improving Player Experience
Monetizing players doesn’t have to mean treating them like a controller/wallet interface. From in-game marketplaces where we devote huge amounts of time and resources to creating assets players will want to buy for use in game to subscription models and season passes to incentivize ongoing engagement, there are ways to optimize the experience for players to make things more fun and get them back to the action faster like marketplace personalization and optimizing those retention models to give them more of what they want. Plus, building these more satisfied and loyal player communities will provide broader revenue opportunities in general – using game IP to create a broader, more diverse revenue loop that not only drives studio and title sustainability, but also rewards players for their loyalty and fandom with new experiences – from merch to shows and movies and beyond – that create a virtuous circle to grow the core games business along the way. Join this roundtable, moderated by Richard Goldsmith (Deloitte), to discuss the ways we as an industry can create improvements and innovations to how we drive sustainable revenue while respecting our players.
