Professor Zyda's research interests include computer graphics; large-scale, networked 3D virtual environments; modeling human and organizational behavior; interactive computer-generated story; computer-generated characters; and entertainment / defense collaboration; among several others. He is the principal investor of the America's Army: Operations PC game funded by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. For the last ten years, he has served on committees of the National Research Council for the Behavioral and Social Sciences Commission, the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board, and the Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board. He has also consulted for a wide range of corporations, organizations, and countries. A few include the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Malaysia, and Paramount Digital Entertainment.
